Turn the forcing screw on the tool to press the seal until it bottoms in the block. Attach the tool to the end of the crankshaft assembly. Place the new seal on the inner body of ST-125. ST-125 is a two-piece tool that mounts to the crankshaft and forces on both inner and outer seal bodies. Fit of inner/outer seal bodies is critical and any misalignment can result in leakage. Screw ST-124 into the end of the crankshaft. Place the seal onto the end of the crankshaft. ST-124 is designed to install the seal to correct depth and alignment. One of the most painful hand exercises yet. ![]() I used a pair of pliers that wouldn't bung up the seal to give it a little push up into the hole. It should get over the curvature then get stuck. ![]() Use the index finger to guide it into the hole then push up with your thumb. To slide the new one in, cup the 1/2 seal with your thumb and index finger. You might want to lube the seal a little on the edges and tip before it goes in. ![]() Offsetting the seals is important so the intersection doesn't line up with the block/cap seam. If your rope seal was in great shape that CDR value is probably not functioning and you're getting pressure in the crank case. Make sure you test/check/replace your CDR value. My first attempt also failed and still leaked. The new seal gets shaved off as it goes in.ĭropping the crank was not an option with the engine in the vehicle. ![]()
